Soap Box

I’m a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Nursing. I graduated in May and I’m looking forward to working as a nurse for a while. I plan on continuing my education and maybe get a Master’s degree in herbal medicine. I feel that although Western medicine is very good at surgeries and emergency care, when it comes to prevention and holistic healing of the entire person, they lack quite a bit. Most of the “modern” medications nowadays only give symptom relief and create other side effects in the process. We need to take the time and completely heal our bodies and keep them healthy because unless you plant and eat your own food, most of the stuff you buy in stores contains chemicals, pesticides, and other ingredients that not only lower your immune system, but they also collect in your body and continue to do damage for months and years after ingesting it. And now you know why the title of this page is “Soap Box.” :)
I probably won’t write too many blogs here, but I usually post stuff that I find on the internet and deem interesting. There are a lot of things happening in this country and the world, but I feel that people have become complacent and docile (thank you Fluoride), and do not care about what’s going on outside of their bubble. I hope that whomever ends up checking this information won’t just take my word for it, but rather look it up and find out the truth on their own.

In the words of Siddhartha Gautama, “Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.”
When you start feeling a bit overloaded, take some time to relax and check out these photos. :)

Oh, and here is my Myspace page.

    Hi Diana,
I came by to look at your blog after you left a comment on mine – thanks! Funnily enough I replied to your comment by mentioning the moon – and what do I find when I look at your myspace site? The moon! Well, well!
Great blog you’ve started – you find lots of interesting things on the net – I’m going to put you on my blogroll and I’ll be back.
I am a medical doctor, used to be GP (family physician) in Scotland and left that work over a decade ago to work fulltime at Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital – pretty much for the same reasons you give about where Western medicine is weak.
I hope your studies go well and that you find your niche in nursing
    Bob

I agree with a lot of what you say about medicine. I certainly don’t think it’s all bad (I’m sure you don’t either), but there is a distinct tendency toward a “try to fix it once it’s too late” mentality.

I make my money as a fitness coach, and have a vested interest in PREVENTATIVE care. That’s basically what my job is: to teach people how to avoid ending up in the hospital for things that are generally preventable.

And the whole “drugs solve all our problems” mentality is also a serious problem.

Yeah, the “I’ll take this Lipitor once a day for the rest of my life while I still eat 3 meals a day at McDonald’s and sit on the couch for 12 hours” mentality is very serious. I’m sure you see this every day.

I definitely think the medical system has become short sighted, and very “pain maintenance” oriented. What hits me the hardest is what you said about the chemicals in our food, i am a huge enemy of hydrogenated oils, i am so convinced that it is the poison that will kill society. The worst thing about it is, like you said, our bodies not being able to fight off all this pollution. And i dont trust the fda as far as i could throw it(even if i was buff =)

It would be nice if hydrogenated oils were the only thing to worry about when it comes to food. Most of the stuff we eat or use on a daily basis contain, to a degree, harmful chemicals or substances, such as monosodium glutamate (MSG), high fructose corn syrup, diacetyl in popcorn, genetically modified crops that produce their own pesticide, artificial growth hormones and antibiotics in milk, etc.

But hey, who wants to live to be 100, right? Besides, if this stuff doesn’t kill you, the bird flu sure will. :)
